Micropress chooses Versafire over Xerox technology

Micropress Printers in Southwold is installing a Versafire CP digital press which will run alongside their Xerox iGen 150.

‘This offers us a back up to the six page A4 format which we didn’t have before and, with the EFI RIP, the potential to speed up output and increase the amount of personalisation we handle,’ said James Cross, production director. \As a company we handle a broad range of work including books, leaflets, calendars and greetings cards. We decide on a case by case which work will go digital and which litho, depending on factors like run length and pagination. Digital is five to seven percent of our turnover and is growing steadily.’

Some litho customers send in digital work and some digital print users convert to the litho facilities but equally the company has some customers which only use one or other technology. It is a real mix.

‘There is a real buzz in the digital department as they prepare for the installation. It is exciting,’ added James Cross. Once in, the Versafire will operate on a flexible day shift.

Last year Micropress bought a Speedmaster XL 75-5, a Stahlfolder KH 82 and a Polar Autotrim cutting line from Heidelberg. This is a company that likes to automate, to use digital workflows and to streamline processes as much as possible.

Micropress runs to IS012647 colour standards and it is also very sustainability minded, its premises featuring a roof covered in solar panels and a biomass boiler.
