Laetus launches the new SmartSpect camera

With SmartSpect, Laetus has brought to the market the next generation of fully integrated smart cameras for optical quality control. The intelligent camera system combines a camera and high performance image processing in a single unit. The pre-configured versions offer short delivery times, and their compact design makes them easy to install – even in confined spaces and challenging industrial environments.

The high belt speeds associated with production and packaging processes present significant challenges in terms of optical quality control. Thanks to the CMOS sensors used, the new SmartSpect camera from Laetus generates and processes high resolution images inside a single compact unit – even at very high belt speeds. The integrated Intel dual core embedded processor quickly processes the image data obtained, with no need for an additional PC or controller.

The package contains comprehensive vision-inspection applications for checking barcodes and both OCV and OCR reading. Two different resolutions, both monochrome, are available at the time of launch, as well as a choice of different lighting versions. All versions feature a C mount lens as standard and a connection for a liquid lens. The systems are operated either via a connected Argus wt system or independently of this via the Navigator touchscreen browser.

The new value for money camera system is easy to install, making it suitable for checking type tasks on packaging lines that can only be covered by a single camera. Existing older versions of Inspect wt software applications are compatible so can continue to be used.
