On Tuesday 14 July, the BPIF hosted its 2026 members’ day, bringing together key industry leaders and members from across the printing industry for a day of discussion, insight and celebration. This year’s event marked a significant milestone as the BPIF celebrated 125 years – an incredible achievement for both the organisation and the UK printing industry.
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the industry's rich history, looking back at the historic journey of print, while exploring the innovations, technologies and opportunities shaping the future of print.
The day began with the annual general meeting (AGM) where Charles Jarrold, BPIF chief executive provided members with an exploration of the organisation’s history, as well as its current position and future aspirations. He highlighted the mission, vision, values, and core propositions, before presenting the BPIF’s annual review, sharing the successes and achievements of the past 12 months and outlining key priorities for 2026/27.

Charles was joined by a panel that consisted of BPIF employees Mandy Robson (head of business services) and Darren Shepherd (national membership development director), as well as Karly Lattimore, managing director of BPIF Training, and board members Ian Conetta, group managing director of The Meliora Group and Jonathan Dul, managing director of Mirical Emblems. Together they reflected on the BPIF’s journey, discussed future plans and shared their expectations and predictions for the industry.
Following the AGM, members heard from three panel sessions exploring the past, present and future of the printing industry.
The celebrations continued at the House of Lords where members gathered for the annual drinks’ reception on the terrace. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Peter Hughes of Unite the Union who spoke about the key challenges and opportunities facing the industry, including education and the importance of a coordinated industrial strategy.
The afternoon also saw the presentation of two awards:
The Kathy Woodward Award for Learning, sponsored by Webmart and presented by Simon Biltcliffe, went to Izelda Lala. The award honours the memory of former BPIF CEO Kathy Woodward and supports the career development of individuals working in print, packaging and graphic design sectors.
The Award for Outstanding Achievement to the Printing Industry was presented to Debbie Mellett in recognition of her exceptional leadership, commitment to mentoring and long standing contribution to the print sector.
