Inkish has announced Flow, a new international exhibition dedicated entirely to software, automation and robotics for the printing industry. The three day event will take place at Probo Print in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, from November 3 to 5, 2026, bringing printers, technology suppliers, developers and industry experts together around one of the industry's fastest growing areas of investment.

‘Software and robots are becoming so important to the competitiveness of printing companies that printers need more time to understand the technologies and the opportunities they offer,’ said Henrik Klem Lassen, CEO of Inkish. ‘At traditional trade shows, visitors meet hundreds of different suppliers, and time is always a challenge. It is difficult to sit down for one or two hours and really understand a workflow, an MIS, an automation platform or a robotic solution. Flow is designed to give people that time.’

Flow may appear to contradict something Inkish has argued for years: that the printing industry needs fewer exhibitions, not more.

‘We still believe that,’ said Morten B Reitoft, editor in chief of Inkish. ‘But Flow isn't another general printing exhibition. Hardware investments are becoming increasingly difficult to justify for many companies, while investments in digital infrastructure, software, automation and robotics can create significant productivity gains at considerably lower CapEx. The timing is right for an event with a very narrow and uncompromising focus on exactly these technologies.’

Together with Probo Print, Flow is introducing several new approaches to the traditional exhibition format.

Exhibitors will be able to offer silent demonstrations, where visitors use their own mobile phones and headsets to connect directly to presentations at individual booths. This allows exhibitors to demonstrate software and technology in depth without competing with the noise normally associated with busy trade show halls.

Presentations and selected activities will also be available live online, allowing people unable to travel to Bad Hersfeld to follow Flow remotely.

The objective is not simply to show products, but to create enough time for conversations, demonstrations and knowledge sharing between printers and the people developing the technologies that increasingly control production.

The plans are for Flow to become a recurring international event, taking place every second year in Europe and every second year in the United States.

For the inaugural event in Bad Hersfeld, Inkish expects more than 1000 attendees during the three days.
