Elliott Baxter & Co Ltd (EBB) has announced its certification to ISO 22000, the internationally recognised standard for food safety management systems.

This significant milestone demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to upholding the highest standards in operational excellence and supply chain assurance.

Whilst many of EBB’s mill partners already produce certified food safe materials, the addition of ISO 22000 certification ensures that its own storage, handling, and distribution processes meet the same rigorous standards, providing a fully compliant chain from mill to customer.

This achievement was made possible in part by the recent investment in its new Leicester distribution facility, a site developed to support food safe operations from the ground up. The facility provided the foundation for implementing a comprehensive food safety management system, including a formal HACCP plan, allergen control policies, and enhanced hygiene procedures – all critical to meeting the requirements of ISO 22000. The site is also recently registered with Sedex, reflecting a wider commitment to ethical and responsible supply chain practices alongside food safety compliance.

For customers, this certification offers independent verification that the company’s internal processes support food safety and traceability. It enhances the ability to supply into the food and FMCG sectors with full confidence, ensuring a seamless chain of compliance from production through to final delivery. It also provides added reassurance for brand owners and packaging clients, particularly as many continue to transition away from plastic and toward fibre based solutions.

‘Achieving ISO 22000 is a natural progression for EBB and something I am incredibly proud to have led,’ said Rebecca Elliott, sustainability and compliance manager. ‘It reflects our commitment to raising standards and strengthening our position as a trusted supplier in food safe and sensitive applications. I am especially grateful to the team who helped make it happen – with particular thanks to Peter Finny the warehouse manager and Justin Lawes, board divisional manager, whose support and attention to detail were invaluable throughout the process.’
