The business has welcomed Marvyn Wachira as its first trainee sustainability and quality coordinator, a role designed to nurture the next generation of packaging talent while supporting Parkside’s long term environmental goals.

By creating this role, the company is strengthening its focus on embedding sustainability into its day to day decision making. Marvyn will support the company’s teams by aligning packaging quality and performance with ambitious environmental targets, while engaging in research to uncover new strategies that will help further reduce the business’s environmental impact.

Marvyn said, ‘I have always cared deeply about the environment, having studied environmental science at university, so this role at Parkside Flexibles felt like the perfect fit. I am already finding plenty to get stuck in to, with several exciting initiatives in the works that have the potential to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. It has been fantastic to join such a welcoming team, and I am looking forward to working alongside them as we continue to drive sustainability improvements across the flexible packaging sector.’

Richard Hallas, QHSE manager at Parkside, added: ‘We have always prided ourselves on our commitment to staying ahead on sustainability, whether that is creating more sustainable flexible packaging formats or guiding our customers through the latest environmental regulations. Investing in emerging talent like Marvyn ensures that we not only strengthen our current sustainability expertise, but also build the skills and knowledge needed to meet future challenges. This investment ensures sustainability remains at the heart of everything we do.’
