Charlotte Bradford has won Placement Student of the Year 2020/21 – Large Corporation – at the Nottingham Trent University (NTU) Industry Placement Awards 2022.
Charlotte, who is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Product Design at NTU, joined the Antalis Packaging team for a year long placement as part of her degree course.
As a placement student, Charlotte was tasked with assisting packaging technologists and designers at Antalis Packaging’s Smart Packaging Centre (SPC). Within a very short space of time, she was making a significant contribution to the work and success of the SPC. Just three months after beginning her placement, Charlotte progressed from assisting in the design of packaging to managing whole projects from start to finish, including visiting and presenting to clients.
An outstanding performance during her placement year has led to Charlotte already being offered a permanent job by Antalis Packaging. She is now completing the final year of her degree while in full time employment at the SPC.
Antalis Packaging is committed to investing in the packaging designers of the future and Charlotte is the second intern to have gone on to take up a permanent role within the SPC. Packaging technology manager at Antalis Packaging Jason Poxon believes part of the success of the internship programme is down to giving the students the opportunity to get involved from day one: ‘They have a huge amount of enthusiasm and ideas, which is exactly what’s needed when problem solving packaging,’ he said.
The fresh thinking attitude of the interns aligns perfectly with the SPC’s approach to solving customers’ packaging challenges, whether they are looking for innovative packaging design to improve efficiency and sustainability or even artwork design.
Jason added, ‘Charlotte has been an outstanding intern, demonstrating her exceptional talent, willingness to learn, and remarkable work ethic from day one. We couldn't be more delighted to have Charlotte join our team.’
