Friedheim expands portfolio with groundbreaking machine

Friedheim International is enlarging its portfolio with the addition of a new supplier – Shawpak. The company offers a compact and cost effective solution for thermoforming packaging.

Shawpak was founded just 18 months ago by parent company Riverside Medical in a bid to design a world class thermoforming machine. With its expertise in designing and manufacturing medical equipment for the UK pharmaceutical industry, Riverside Medical designed the Shawpak under strict pharmaceutical conditions.

Martin Howells, Friedheim International’s packaging manager, said: ‘After seeing the Shawpak machine in action, it was obvious that it really was a groundbreaking machine. The unique rotary drum application, ease of use and quality of the pack where unmistakable. Also the versatility of the machine is unmatched for its size and price.’

The Shawpak produces thermoformed packs through a comprehensive control system, combined with superb mechanics. This gives the Shawpak the ability to produce packs under the strictest control and to the most demanding specifications. It has the capacity to process a large number of materials. What really sets the device apart is the compact size. Its minimal footprint and low starting cost make it ideal for any emerging contract packer or those with a highly varied product base.

The heart of the machine is a servo driven indexing drum that transports the webs through the machine. The drum is surrounded by forming, sealing and cutting stations. The product is simply loaded in to the top of the tooling drum and ejected out of the base onto a discharge conveyor. It is that simple!
