Big brand names up for Easyfairs’ PLD launch show

Packaging Solutions

Easyfairs has announced details of the inaugural PLD – Packaging of Premium & Luxury Drinks, a new international forum for packaging professionals to share ideas and inspiration, and to source new suppliers and packaging products across premium and luxury wines and spirits, premium beers and soft drinks.

The event is co-located with ADF&PCD Paris 2020: the dedicated event for the aerosol, dispensing, perfume and cosmetic packaging markets. The trio of shows will offer a new dimension of cross-market inspiration, design thinking and technical solutions to drinks packaging designers and developers. The three events take place on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 January 2020, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.

Highlights for the international trade show include the new PLD conference theatre, which includes speakers from major drinks brand owners including Diageo, Camus, Edrington and Atom Brands, alongside a range of design agencies and technology experts. Key topics will include new design codes, the impact of the craft spirits market on packaging design, digital innovations in luxury packaging and sustainability issues. In addition, Pernod Ricard will participate in a cross sector debate on sustainability in the PCD conference theatre.

PLD has been developed to help cross disciplinary brand teams get involved in packaging projects to innovate and reimagine their packaging as a team – whether they are in the design, marketing, packaging development or buying functions. This collaborative ethos extends to the show floor, and as many exhibitors serve both the drinks and cosmetics markets, PLD is positioned centrally to encourage cross pollination across verticals.

Over the two days, PLD will host suppliers from across Europe, North America and Asia showing the latest innovations in the full range of packaging formats and materials for premium and luxury drinks. This includes bottles, labels, closures, and presentation packaging in a range of materials, as well as decorative materials.

Top suppliers from across these sectors have committed to the show including Autajon, Crown Speciality Packaging, DS Smith Packaging, Estal, GPA Luxury, Knoll Prestige Packaging, Les Etuis Mirault, Multi Packaging Solutions, Pavisa, Tapi, Vetroelite, Virojanglor and many more. Overall, PLD will showcase around 150 suppliers, while the complete ADF&PCD and PLD show will host more than 700 exhibitors from across the cosmetics, perfume, drinks and aerosol sectors.

Josh Brooks, event director at ADF&PCD and PLD Paris 2020, said: ‘ADF&PCD Paris is already the leading annual fixture for the worldwide cosmetics and perfume packaging industry. The integration of PLD opens the doors even wider, showcasing fresh perspectives from the $4 billion premium drinks market.

‘The launch of PLD is a direct response to demand from our community for an event that offers the opportunity for packaging creators in the premium and luxury drinks markets to source and share technologies and ideas; and to learn from their colleagues in aligned sectors.

‘The event offers a joined up view of the sector, and we aspire to initiate all industry dialogue on many of the long-standing and emerging challenges facing multifunctional brand teams. We are confident that the expanded ADF&PCD and PLD Paris 2020 event will become a forum for truly groundbreaking ideas.’
